New Cell Policy as Approved June 21, 2011

When the new school year starts Aug. 8, no cell phones will be allowed on any Richmond County public school campus.

The Richmond County school board voted 7-1 Tuesday to prohibit students from having phones in their pockets, backpacks, purses or anywhere else on school grounds as a way to prevent classroom distractions and as a fix to the inconsistent policies across the district.

If a phone is spotted in an open purse or in a backpack, even if it is turned off, it will be confiscated for 30 days on the first offense.

Additional information will be available at the Open-House/Freshman Orientations and  in the code of conduct each student signs at the beginning of the year.
